Awesome views if the weather is good (here's hoping!) so pack your camera if you are snap happy. There wont be a fuel stop. Please take note of the emergency phone numbers for the day (coverage permitting). They are listed further down this page. SEE YOU ALL THERE!! Just please turn up in good time to be signed in by 10am. DON'T BE LATE!!! Unfortunately we've had to change the date of this ride. NOW 11TH APRIL (was 18th April) Tokomaru Ride coming up Sunday 28 Feb 02/15/2010
The track has been finalised and it's looking great. The track is approximately 42km. Some of it is fast flowing, some a bit more technical, so there should be something for everyone. Please arrive EARLY!! CHANGE TO START VENUE - we have moved the carpark/start from SH57 as it was just too dodgy for access. Start venue is a wee bit further south, on Kaihinau Road, off SH57. Full details here We will have a peewee track and a kids track available - these are supervised, however we are not a babysitting service and we prefer that an adult stays with the child. Emergency Phone Numbers during events 02/15/2010
The following numbers are the numbers to call during our events if you need to urgently make contact with someone at the carpark. Coverage is often limited. 021 498 001 027 580 8411 (Please don't phone these numbers at any other time). Fast vs slow, 2 wheels vs 4 02/03/2010
Just a reminder that our trail rides are open to riders of all ability levels and 2 or 4 wheelers, and as such there will be fast and slow riders, 2 and 4 wheelers. Fast riders be aware there are slower and less experienced riders on the track. If you are "held up", please be patient in following, wait for a suitable place to pass, and be considerate about it. If a rider is having difficulty or is stuck, how about stopping to give assistance and/or encouragement? If you simply can't tolerate slower riders or 4 wheelers, then we suggest you stick to competitive events where speed is the objective. On the flip side, slower paced or less experienced riders should accept that there are faster riders out there, and yes, they will probably want to pass you. Whether they do so in a considerate manner is questionable, but it would be a good idea to let them past where it is safe to pull to the left. Please all be considerate of each other out on the trails, have a little patience and tolerance, and you will all have a great ride. Found at Laws Hill 02/01/2010
A kidney belt was found out on the track. Two triangle stands were found in the car park (one home made). If you are missing any of these items, please email hmcc@kol.co.nz or phone 04 904 9800 to identify. Laws Hill aftermath 02/01/2010
Thanks to everyone who came on Sunday, we had 391 riders. We hope you all liked the new format for the ride - we certainly found it much easier to run on the day. Let us know if you have any feedback, or photos we can post on our website!! Anyone keen to write up a story for the next newsletter? Due out later in February. Email to hmcc@kol.co.nz Usually there is a resounding silence to these requests but hey, I can try right?!! |
